ART Transit is a conceptual transportation system designed to address accessibility challenges between the University of Arkansas campus and its off-campus art facilities. As more courses and studio spaces were relocated outside of the main campus, students faced limited transportation options and inconsistent access to classes, creating an opportunity to rethink the commuting experience through design.
Rather than focusing solely on a transit application, the project explored how branding, wayfinding, and digital tools could work together to create a cohesive transportation ecosystem. The solution included a dedicated shuttle service, a companion mobile app, and a visual identity designed specifically for the student art community.
The identity system draws on the fundamentals of art and design, using a primary color palette of red, blue, and yellow to create an approachable, recognizable presence across physical and digital touchpoints. Custom graphic elements were developed using topographic references from the Arkansas landscape, connecting the visual language to themes of movement, navigation, and place.
To support the user experience, I mapped key rider journeys and developed wireframes that informed the mobile application's structure. The final prototype, created in Figma, allows students to track routes, access transit information, and navigate the service through a clear and intuitive interface. The project demonstrates how thoughtful branding and user-centered design can transform a functional transportation system into a more connected and engaging experience.
