Project Overview:

Hair Bar is a sustainable packaging concept developed to challenge the waste associated with traditional shampoo and conditioner products. Most hair care products come in single-use plastic bottles that are difficult to recycle and often prevent consumers from fully using the product inside.
This project reimagines the hair care experience through a solid shampoo bar and a fully recyclable packaging system designed to reduce environmental impact while maintaining a functional and engaging user experience. By addressing both product and packaging waste, the concept explores how thoughtful design can encourage more sustainable consumer habits.
Research & Discovery:

The project began with an exploration of multiple sustainable packaging concepts, then narrowed the focus to personal care products. Through ideation sketches, written brainstorming, and concept development, I evaluated several opportunities to reduce waste through design.
To better understand the market, I conducted a competitive analysis of 10 brands that use sustainable packaging practices. This research helped identify strengths, shortcomings, and opportunities within the category, informing a solution that combined the most successful elements while addressing common usability and sustainability challenges.
Brand Assets
Design Development & Production:
The design process moved from hand-drawn sketches into digital development, where I explored multiple iterations of the visual identity, packaging structure, color palette, and typographic system. Each stage focused on balancing sustainability, functionality, and brand appeal.
To reinforce the project's environmental goals, the final packaging prototype was produced using handmade paper created from recycled materials. Packaging components were printed, assembled, and tested to evaluate both the visual identity and physical user experience, resulting in a fully realized packaging concept that aligned with the project's sustainability objectives.
