Hair Bar was a brand designed to combat the standard package design for shampoo and conditioning products. Typically they are packaged in plastic bottles that don't get recycled and the bottles make it hard to use the product until it is completely run out. The hair bar shampoo bar replaces your regular bottles with a zero waste packaging and product design.
My initial process included brainstorming three possible  sustainable product packaging ideas. Out of the three ideas I narrowed down to the one I preferred and brainstormed further ideas for packaging. My brainstorming process consists of hand writing my thoughts and ideas down as I think of them as well as drawing lo-fidelity visuals and sketches to further explain my vision. I also researched and analyzed ten brands that already implement aspects of my design idea. Then compared and contrasted them to ensure that my idea tackled all the negative aspects and included the positive ones.
Brand Assets
The sketching process usually begins by hand, once a basic idea is formed, it is moved into the digital space. This is where I begin to create various iterations for branding styles, colors, type, and other various design elements. Once these Ideas are formed and I am satisfied with them they are sent to be printed and put together. I printed the packaging using a laser printer and homemade paper from recycled materials, the paper was taped to an 11x17 in. sheet of paper to help with feeding through the printer.
A completely sustainable and fully recyclable packaging design for an alternative shampoo bar. Traditional shampoo packaging consists of thick plastic bottles which get thrown away as well as not allowing every drop of product to be used. The shampoo bar will last every last bit of product and is packaged in 100% zero waste and recycled hand made paper products.
