CTRL was the culminating exhibition for the 2023 University of Arkansas Senior Graphic Design class, showcasing a semester of independent research and design exploration. Planned, organized, and executed by the graduating class, the exhibition brought together a diverse collection of projects under a shared theme centered around the concept of control.
As the designer responsible for the exhibition program, my goal was to create a publication that effectively guided visitors through both the event and the featured work. The program served as a key informational touchpoint, introducing the exhibition concept, highlighting each designer's research focus, and providing visitors with the context needed to engage more deeply with the work on display.
A strong emphasis was placed on editorial hierarchy, readability, and navigation. The publication included individual designer profiles, research questions, photography, exhibition information, and a custom map of the design building to help guests navigate the space. Through thoughtful layout design and information architecture, the program transformed a large volume of content into a clear and accessible experience for attendees.
This project reinforced the importance of editorial design as a tool for storytelling, wayfinding, and audience engagement, demonstrating how thoughtful information design can enhance the overall exhibition experience.
